Als ich vertieft heut lag am Waldesrand,
Und bangt' um deine Liebe, fiel von selber
Mir ein vierblättrig Kleeblatt in die Hand.
Und als ich spät im Dunkeln dein gedacht,
Am offnen Fenster in den Garten lehnend,
Da schossen Stern' um Sterne durch die Nacht.
Was hilft's der Welt, daß sie mich von dir trieb?
Nun sind mir Erd' und Himmel Boten worden,
Und sagen grüßend mir, du hast mich lieb.
