Ei, wie geht so flink der Knabe 
Mit dem  Ränzel mit dem Stabe 
Und den Tannzweig auf dem Hut:  
Auf vom Lager mit dem Morgen, 
Ohne Lieb' und ohne Sorgen
Wandert sich's alleine gut!  

Aber muß man diese hegen 
Will man sich in Schatten legen, 
Mit dem Wandern ist es aus. 
Hat man wo sein Herz gelassen,  
O wie geht es durch die Gassen 
Langsam vor das Thor hinaus!
