Der Vogel schwingt sich zu den Wolken auf; 
Wir eilen die blauen Gebirge hinauf, 
Hinauf, hinunter, im Fluge fort!  
Wohlauf und munter!  bald da, bald dort!   

Und ist's kein Fliegen, so singen wir doch, 
Im Wald, o Vergnügen!  wird's lauter noch! 
Und hört uns keiner, so freut's doch den Wald, 
Und sucht uns einer, er hört, wo es schallt.
