The Woodland Maid
 (Sung text for setting by J. Addison)
 See original
Language: English
The woodland maid, my beauty's queen!
In Nature's simple garb array'd,
this heart subdues; - that matchless mien
still binds me to the woodland maid.

Let others sigh for mines of gold,
for wide domain, for gay parade;
I would, unmov'd, such toys behold,
possess'd of thee, my woodland maid.

Composition:

    Set to music by John Addison (b. 1920), "The Woodland Maid"

Text Authorship:

  • by Lumley St George Skeffington (1771 - 1850), "The Woodland Maid"
