Das Alpenhaus
(Sung text for setting by J. Dessauer)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Stille saß ich vor dem Alpenhaus
In duftigreiner Frühlingsnacht,
Sah weit in's Hochgebirg hinaus,
Es war umglänzt von Sternenpracht.

Wer sagt mir: Welch ein Himmel quoll
Beseligend in dieser Luft?
Ich weiß allein: mein Herz war voll
Von Sternenlicht und Alpenduft.

Composition:

Set to music by Joseph Dessauer (1798 - 1876), "Das Alpenhaus", 1854 [ voice and piano ], unpublished, confirmed with the manuscript in Huldigung der Tonsetzer Wiens an Ihre Majestät die allerdurchlauchtigste Frau Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie, Kaiserin von Österreich, Königin von Ungarn und Böhmen etc. Überreicht von der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde des österreichischen Kaiserstaates 1854 held in the Österreichische Nationalbibliothek
