Milde Stunde
(Sung text for setting by L. Lenz)
 Matches base text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Kommst du wieder, milde Stunde,
die mich oft so traurig macht,
wenn im Herzen mir die Kunde
der Vergangenheit erwacht.

Lange bist du fern geblieben,
die das Leben mir versüßt;
rede mir von Schmerz und Lieben,
lang' schon harr' ich, sei gegrüßt!

Wie so oft gehört' ich wilden,
ernsten, fremden Mächten hier,
wie so selten deiner milden,
süßen Macht, wie selten dir!

Freundlich kommst du hergezogen,
überströmst mich sacht, so sacht!
Nimm mich auf in deine Wogen,
milde, träumerische Nacht!

Composition:

Set to music by Leopold Lenz (1803 - 1862), "Milde Stunde"

Text Authorship:

  • by Ludwig August Frankl (1810 - 1894)
