Du böse Straße! Du hast mir ihn geraubt!
Wie ziehst du in der Mittagsglut grellweiß bestaubt
in unerbittlich strenger Krümme hügelan!
Du harte Räuberin! Was hab ich dir getan?

Du liegst wie eine träge, satte Schlange da
und siehst mich Arme, der groß Leid geschah,
aus kalten weißen Augen höhnisch an,
daß es mich trotz der Hitze frostig überrann.

Dich ist er fortgeschritten und du nahmst ihn mir.
Er ging davon, ich Arme bleibe hier
und stehe da und schaue unverwandt
die Straß' entlang, auf welcher er entschwand.
