Daß er ganz ein Engel werde
(Sung text for setting by F. Schreker)
 Matches base text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Daß er ganz ein Engel werde,
legt den kleinen Leib zur Ruh!
Aber nicht mit schwerer Erde,
schüttet ihn mit Blumen zu!

Zarter Blume gleich mein Kindchen,
halb noch träumend, kaum erweckt
und gleich ihr von jedem Windchen
rauh berührt und leicht erschreckt!

Composition:

Set to music by Franz (August Julius) Schreker (1878 - 1934), "Daß er ganz ein Engel werde", op. 5 no. 2 (<<1898), from Zwei Lieder auf den Tod eines Kindes, no. 2
