Sainte Dorothée
Language: French (Français)
Elle marchait vers le supplice,
En murmurant: Gloire à Jesus!
Je vais cueillir rose et narcisse
Dans le paradis des elus.

Alors une voix ironique
Lui cria: Vite; envoyez-nous
De votre bouquet magnifique
Quelques fleurs aux parfums très doux!

Or celui qui disait ces choses,
Vit aussitôt un grand buisson
Surgir devant lui, plein de roses,
De nids d'oiseaux et de chansons...

Et les roses rouges et blèmes,
De leur tige se détachant;
Sur ses lèvres à l'instant même,
Se posèrent, les embaumant.

Et lui, le front dans la lumière,
Et le regard extasié,
S'agenouillant baisa la terre
Où Dorothée avait passé.
