Ein Sternlein fiel vom Himmel her, 
wie weit es geflogen, wer sagt es denn, wer?
Es zitterte sehr, und es fürchtete sich, 
Schneesternelein, wos scheuest du dich?

"Die Sehnsucht treibt mich herab zu dir,
auf deiner Lippe ist warmes Quartier!"
O Sternelein, was zögerst du?
o eile den Lippen, o eile herzu!

Du heiliger, kühlender Liebesschein, 
kristollenes weißes Sternelein!
Du strebest hernieder zu heissem Herz!
o komm nur, mich bindet ja gleicher Schmerz.

Schon nahst du der Lippe zum Liebeskuß, 
o komm und empfange den Gegengruß!
Mein Sternlein, so schnell du zerronnen bist? 
die Liebe, ach! währet nur kleine Frist!
