Att till Corinthus hinna
gör ej begäret nog;
Nej, kära barn, besinna
vad ände Paddan tog.

En Padda såg en Tjur:
vad hände?
En hemlig avundseld
dess stolta hjärta tände:

Vad? är jag ej så hög,
så stor som denna Tjur?
Skrek detta plattaste
bland alla kreatur.

Hon sen sitt gap mot vädret vände,
sig spände, och sig åter spände,
till dess hon sprack, det arma djur!
Och så tog både hon och denna fabel ände.

Att till Corinthus hinna
gör ej begäret nog;
Nej, kära barn, besinna,
vad ände Paddan tog.
