by Anna Emilia (Annie) Vivanti (1868 - 1942)

Vita breve (Una lettera)
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Sto bene, proprio bene! Ho un po' di tosse
che passerà quando vien primavera.
Vedessi poi che belle guance rosse!
Fanno invidia alle bambole di cera.

Ora la mamma non mi sgrida mai,
e babbo poi! Mi bacia ogni momento.
Mi guarda in faccia e dice: Come stai?
E s'io non rido non è mai contento.

Sono felice! Vivere è un incanto.
Sai che domani compio i diciott'anni? --
-- Poveri morti! È triste il camposanto.
Nevica!... Addio. Salutami Giovanni.
