Ich sprach zum Strauch am Ufer klar: Gib mir von deinen roten Beeren, Die steckt mein brauner Schatz ins Haar, Daß sie ihr Lust und Schönheit mehren! "Nimm sie nur mit! doch weißt du auch, Wie bitter Lust und Schönheit brennen? In roten Beeren steht der Strauch, Im roten Blut wirst du's erkennen!"
