De dageraad
Language: Dutch (Nederlands) 
Er is een godentelg op aard,
gegund als troosteres van ‘t leven, 
die ‘t maagdenkleed aan haar gegeven 
nog immer kuis en rein bewaart. 
Haar ned’rig floers, haar stille krone 
gaan boven ‘t schoonste keurgewaad. 
Men noemt die ter’ en frisse schone: 
de dageraad! De dageraad! 

Hoe lag der lieve vad’ren taal, 
sinds lang verdompeld en verstoten, 
toen d’ ed’le stoet van Vlaamse loten 
verhief het lied van zegepraal. 
En ‘t vaderland opnieuw herboren 
en vrij van vreemde band en smaad, 
zag u aan Vlaand’rens hemel gloren: 
o dageraad! O dageraad! 

Wij groeten u dan dierb’re spruit, 
in nachtegaal- of krekelzangen, 
geen tweedracht sluip’ er in onz’ rangen, 
geen afgunst dov’ ons vuurvat uit. 
Wij zullen bij ons laatste neven, 
in zuiver onbezwalkte staat, 
de dierste schat, 
de taal doen leven: o dageraad! O dageraad!
