by Julius Karl Reinhold Sturm (1816 - 1896)

Herbstabend
Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Abend klimmt den Berg hinan,
Der Nebel wogt im Tal,
Hoch auf dem braunen Fels verglomm
Der Sonne goldner Strahl.

Vielstimmiges Geläute trägt
Der kühle Wind zu mir,
Heimzieh’nde Herden läuten sanft
Den Tag und sich zur Ruh‘.

So melancholisch liegt vor mir
Die abendliche Flur,
Als sehnte nach Erlösung sich
Die müde Kreatur.
