by Rudolf Hirsch (1816 - 1872), as Soliny

Die Lerche
Language: German (Deutsch)
Lustig flattert durch die Lüfte
Sie hinan zum Himmelshaus:
Über Berg und Thal und Klüfte
Streut sie ihre Lieder aus.

Doch versteckt an einem Baume
Lauscht ein Schütze mit dem Rohr,
Holt vom blauen Wolkensaume
Sich das kleine Ding hervor.

Nicht zu lustig umgesprungen
Du, mein allzulustig Herz!
Lerche hat auch laut gesungen,
Stirbt nun hin mit tiefem Schmerz.

Gib' wohl Acht! eh Du's versehen,
Hast im Herzen Du den Pfeil,
Dann Ade! ihr Wolkenhöhen,
Bist dem Jäger dann zu Theil!

Confirmed with Boudoir-Lectüre für die fashionable Welt, ed. by E. M. Oettinger, Leipzig: Robert Otto Schulze, 1843. Appears in drittes Bändchen, page 230.
