Translation

Hymn: Advent Hymn
Language: English  after the English
Night’s dim shadows round us lie,
Limbs now locked in dreamless sleep,
While to Thee with souls that sigh,
Faithful all our vigil keep.

Sweet desire of ev’ry land,
Hear O god our piteous cry,
By the Word and by thy Hand
Lift us up from where we live.

Wondrous birth! O wondrous Child,
Though by all the world disowned,
God among us, undefiled,
Still to be in our hearts enthroned.

To our God this plea we raise,
savior and Redeemer, Friend,
Triune God, accept our praise,
Glorying You beyond Time’s end.
