by Francesco Cimmino (1862 - 1938)

Sol ei non torna!...
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Che ti ripete
L'aura che bacia i tuoi capelli biondi
Nel vial solitario, in fondo al prato?
Nella quiete
Dei tramonto d'april, che mai nascondi
Nel mister del tuo sguardo innamorato?
Le rondini già tornano
Su la collina in fior;
e forse ti susurrano
Commosse al tuo dolor:
"Sol ei non torna, o fior primaveril,
Tu sola piangi, or che sorride april!"

Che mai ti dice
Quella rosa a cui tu strappando vai,
Nel dolor, già le foglie ad una ad una?
Triste o felice
La tua sorte sarà? Che sarà mai
Del tuo cor, senz'amor, senza fortuna?
Il sole manda l'ultimo
Saluto al verde pian,
E il coro delle rondini
Ripete più lontan:
"Sol ei non torna, o fior primaveril,
Tu sola piangi, or che sorride april!"
