by Giuseppe Florio (1818 - 1880)

Romanza
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Solea d'ogni alba al nascere
dal cespo, o mio diletto,
fresca una rosa cogliere,
e me ne ornava il petto
quando a te piacqui e l'anima
al primo amor s'aprì.

Tra le tue braccia or vivomi
dell'amor tuo beata,
e ancora alla memoria
mi torna, imagin grata,
quel fior ch'accolse i palpiti
de'miei primieri dì.

Deh! se i miei giorni mancano,
alla mia tomba allora
vieni pietoso a piangere,
ed il terren ne infiora:
ne' fiori e nelle lacrime
soave è una virtù.

E se sul freddo cenere
cadrà quel fior gentile,
oh! di quel fior, rammentati,
degli anni in sull'aprile
bella soleva io rendermi,
ma per piacerti più.
