by Ferdinand Freiherr von Rast (1808 - 1889)

Abendruhe
Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Mond scheint klar und helle,
Am Strome wiegt mein Kahn,
Es eilt die Silberwelle
Nach ferner Meeresbahn;
Die Luft war lau und stille;
Der Wind, der atmet kaum,
Vom Ufer summt die Grille
Ihr Lied durch Strauch und Baum.

Am Kahn die Wellen schlagen,
Hell tönt der Wogensang,
Und Nachtigallen klagen
Vom grünen Waldeshang;
Die Blumen aber lauschen
Und senken schlummermüd
Beim leisen Wogenrauschen
Das zarte Augenlid.

Die Seele wonnetrunken
Drin hört den Rundgesang.
Der Mond war längst versunken,
Wie es vom Wasser klang;
Des Stromes Wogen riefen:
So wieget die Natur,
Als Halm und Blumen schliefen,
Die Kinder ihrer Flur.
