Als der Tod zum erstenmal Einst das Wort sprach: „Trennt Euch! scheidet!“ Und das Schicksal, nun erst mächtig, Dumpf ihm nachsprach: „Trennt Euch! scheidet!“ Da zersprang die reine Glocke Jenes Himmels, alle Schönheit Fiel vom Antlitz der Natur, Alle Liebenden erbleichten, Die bisher vollkommne Welt Ward zur Oede, kalt und nichtig. Nur im Menschen ruft die Sehnsucht: „Wiedersehen! wiederfinden!“ Und vom Himmel raunt es fernher: „Wiedersehen, wiedersehen!“
