Reiten ja reiten zur Schlachtz, zur Schlacht,
es knattert es tost, es blitzet und kracht;
trifft mich die Kugel, o schöner Tod!
so weine du nicht, es hat keine Noth.

Gib mir den Ring vom Finger dein, 
das goldene Ringlein mein Schirm soll sein;
rein ja und raus mein Schwert mich haut,
ade nun, ade du Soldatenbraut!
