Die Thränen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wo nur Menschen wohnen,
fließen Tränen auch,
sie sind aller Zonen
angebor'ner Brauch.

Schon dem Säugling hangen
sie am Auge zart,
auf des Mannes Wangen,
in des Greisen Bart.

Wo Verzweiflung flutet,
wo ein Auge bricht,
wo ein Busen blutet,
fehlt ihr Wasser nicht.

Aber heller glänzen
sie im frohen Blick,
wenn uns Freuden kränzen
und der Liebe Glück.

So gebeut den Tränen
alles, was uns nah',
und der Zukunft Sehnen,
und was einst geschah.
