by Adolf Ernst (1835 - 1907), as Adolf Stern

Wohl führt mein Weg zu Thale
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wohl fürt mein Weg zu Thale,
Und Abend wards im Land,
Doch bleibt mein Blick dem Strahle
Des Lichtes zugewandt

Der Nachtwind regt sich leise,
Doch hört mein Ohr allein
Die tröstlich holde Weise:
Dein Herz, o Herz, ist mein.

Und ob es mählich dunkelt --
Mich dünkt die Nacht noch fern,
So lang dein Auge funkelt
Als hellster Abendstern.

Confirmed with Adolf Stern, Gedichte: vierte, stark vermehrte Auflage, Leipzig: Fr. Wilh. Grunow, 1900, page 85. Appears in Lyrische Dichtungen, in Margret. Lieder und Tagebuchblätter.
