Schlaf ein, du holdes Kind
Language: German (Deutsch)
Des lauten Tages Stimmen schweigen,
und nieder steigt die dunkle Nacht.
Die Sterne führen schon den Reigen
und schau'n herab in stolzer Pracht.
O du in deiner Locken Fülle,
in treuer Liebe denk' ich dein;
schon ruht die Welt in nächt'ger Stille,
auch du, mein holdes Kind, schlaf' ein!

Lass mich noch innig dich begrüßen,
solang' dein Aug' der Schlummer flieht;
eh' sich die müden Äuglein schließen,
sing' ich dir leise noch mein Lied.
O ruhe sanft in sel'gem Frieden,
du bist ja lieb und engelrein!
Ein süßer Traum sei dir beschieden,
schlaf' ein, mein hildes Kind, schlaf' ein!
