by Friedrich Maximilian Klinger (1752 - 1831)

Das Vögelein
Language: German (Deutsch)
Weit im Feld da steht ein Baum
und darauf ein Vögelein.
Ach, es klagt und singt so fein;
kann der Lenz nicht ewig sein?

Nickte wohl die Ähre schwer,
wenn der Frühling ewig wär'?
Lacht' der Apfel rot vom Zweig
in des ew'gen Lenzes Reich?

Könnte fest das Eis wohl steh'n
bei des Lenzes ew'gem Weh'n?
Wär' der Maid nicht bang und schwer,
wenn allein sie immer wär'?
