Der Blick auf den Strom
Language: German (Deutsch)
Auf dieses stolzen Stromes Wellen,
die hoch den Schaum am Ufer schwellen,
schwebt sehnend mein  Gedanke fort.
Wohin des Stromes Wogen schlagen,
wohin den Schaum die Fluten tragen,
dort ist des Herzens Heimat, dort!
Auch hier verjüngt sich die Natur!
Des Lenzes milde Lüfte wallen,
es tönt der Wald von Nachtigallen,
und alles trägt der Freude Spur!
Doch meine bangen Seufzer schallen,
es starrt mein Blick, und Tränen fallen,
verödet steht die ganze Flur;
mir lacht die ferne Heimat nur!
