Husarenlied

Wie flammt mein Herz, wie braust mein Blut!
Es sprüht mein Aug' voll wilder Glut.
Wie leicht es sich zu Rosse sitzt,
hurra, wie mir der Säbel blitzt!
Wie pocht mein Herz in Lieb' und Glut,
Soldatenlust und Mannesmut!

Pfeift hohl der Wind, und halt' ich Wacht
allein im Feld um Mitternacht,
gedenke ich des Laufs der Zeit,
an Lenz und Jugend, Freud' und Leid.
Es zieht mich hin voll Lust und Weh';
ruft's „Abgelöst!“, schrei' ich „Juchhe!“

Mich freut mein Kleid, mein stolzes Ross,
des Liebchens Gunst und mein Geschoß,
und schmettert die Trompete hell,
so jage ich wie Sturm so schnell;
so lustig und so frei, hopp, hopp,
saus' ich von dannen im Galopp!
