by Niccolò Machiavelli (1469 - 1527)

A istanza della Barbera
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Amor, i' sento l'alma
  Arder nel foco, ov'io
Lieta arsi, et più che mai d'arder desìo.

S' tu mi raccendi il core
  Et io ne son contenta,
Et ritorno umilmente al giogo antico,
  Opra ch' el mio signore
  Parte del fuoco senta,
Ov'io tutt' ardo, e' mie' pensier nutrico.
  Fa che ponga in oblio
Mie' fuga, e dilli il mio nuovo desìo.

Se col tuo valor santo
  Far puoi, Amor, che sempre
A lui unita paja in questo foco,
  Io sarò lieta tanto,
  Che alle più crude tempre
Il viver mi fia gioja, e 'l morir gioco,
  Et sempre il canto mio
Lui chiamerà Signor, et te mio Dio.
