Auf der Heide
Language: German (Deutsch)
Auf einsam stiller Heide
Sah ich viel Blümlein stehn,
Die leuchteten von ferne,
Bewundernd blieb ich stehn.

Es flogen fleiß'ge Bienen
Von Kelch zu Kelch hinein.
Sie trugen süßen Honig
In ihre Körbe ein.

Viel bunte Falter tanzten
Den Reigen in der Luft,
Sie waren ganz begeistert
Von all dem süßen Duft.

Die grünen Käfer schwirrten
Dort ohne Rast noch Ruh
Und kleine Grillen zirpten
Vergnügt im Takt dazu.

Es war ein Bild des Friedens,
Wie ich es hier gesehn.
O einsam stille Heide,
Wie bist du doch so schön!

Confirmed with Bienenwirthschaftliches Centralblatt, 34. Jahrgang, ed. by G. Lehzen, Hannover: Verlag des Centralvereins, 1898, page 209. Appears in issue no. 14, dated 15. Juli 1898.

Note: this poem shares a first line with the as-yet-unidentified text of Abt's Haidevöglein but is probably not the text Abt set.
