Dir stets getreue, getreu mit ganzer Seele,
Dies sei mein Stolz, sprach Adolph, sei mein Glück.
Dich lieb' ich nur bis in den Tod, Adele,
Ich sag' es laut, hall' Echo es zurück.

Es steh' von mir in jedem Baum geschrieben
Der süsse Schwur, den Liebe mich gelehrt,
stets soll mein Herz nur dich, Adele, lieben;
Nur dies Gefühl giebt meinem Leben Wert.

Dir stets getreue, erwiederte Adele,
Der Taube gleich, bleibt heilig mir mein Schwur;
mit Flammenschrift steht es in meiner Seele: 
Zu lieben dich, ist meine Wonne nur.

Ich denke dein, wenn an des Himmels Saume
Aurora glänzt, blinkt mild der Sterne Schein;
Dein denk' ich stets, dich seh' ich nur im Traume.
O Seligkeit, zu denken ewig dein!
