by Adolf Fredrik Lindblad (1801 - 1878)

En sommarafton
Language: Swedish (Svenska)
Öfver skogen, öfver sjön
Du din slöja sänker,
Milda skymning, och till bön
Du denna stund oss skänker.
Allt är stilla, ej ett ljud
Genom rymden sväfvar.
Jorden, lik en lycklig brud,
Ack! blott af längtan bäfvar.
Dock, hvad qval, o hjerta!
I en stund som denna?
Ack! är all fröjd som menskor känna,
Blott en salig smärta?

Dagens sol har tågat bort,
Ro att menskan gifva;
Ack! hon kommer innan kort
Än all naturen lifva.
Tyst är fågeln, lugnet rår,
Vesterns purpur mattas:
O! hvem är som icke får
Lugn, om detta fattas? --
Så glöm mödan, ila
Med ditt lof till Herran,
Och se i Honom, när och fjerran,
Glad hans verk, som hvila!
