Min skuta

Hon springer öfver dyningen med alla segel spända 
i purpurröda gryningen vid måsens yra skri. 
Hon lägger sig för kårarne, men går ej öfver ända, 
hur härligt är om vårarne vid stormens melodi.

I kölen hugger bränningen, kring sprötet fräser vågen, 
och rodret hårdt i spänningen jag kramar med min hand 
och skummet kommer sopande, det hvisslar gällt i tågen, 
jag lyss till hafvets ropande och vill ej se åt land.

I vreda vårdagsjämningen jag vågar trotsigt lifvet 
och skakar bort förskrämningen, som gör en dåre blek. 
Om storm min skuta krossade, det stod i stjärnor skrifvet, 
jag lefde dock och frossade af äfventyr och lek.
