An die Sterne
Language: German (Deutsch)
Zu euch, ihr Sterne oben,
zu eurem milden Licht
hab' ich den Blick erhoben,
den Blick voll Zuversicht.

Euch lehrt kein Ruf, kein Mahnen,
euch herrscht kein Herrenwort,
ihr wandelt eure Bahnen
in ew'ger Gleichheit fort.

Ich sinne oft mit Tränen
nach euer'm Rätselbild;
ihr weckt mir wach ein Sehnen
und lasst es ungestillt.

Oft tönt ein Lied von ferne,
ein leiser Geisterklang;
das ist eu'r Ruf, o Sterne,
das ist eu'r Nachtgesang.

Ihr winkt mir nah' und ferne
mir eurem Zauberlicht;
ich bau' auf meine Sterne,
ich lass' sie, [lass']1 sie nicht!
