by Franz Karl Hiemer (1768 - 1822)

Der Verbannte
Language: German (Deutsch)
Chosen for Diff
Aus deinem Schoß, mein Vaterland,
du heißgeliebtes, muss ich ziehen
und, Kind und Gattin an der Hand,
in unbekannte Länder fliehen!
O leuchte mir, du Hoffnungsstern,
wo anders häuslich mich zu betten!
Das Schrecklichste erduld' ich gern,
kann ich nur meine Lieben retten.

Noch einmal ruf' ich hier bewegt:
Lebt wohl, ihr teuren Landesbrüder!
Mein Vaterhaus, das mich gepflegt,
vielleicht seh' ich dich niemals wieder!
Und bleib' ich dir auch ewig fern,
und muss ich mich auf Dornen betten:
Das Schrecklichste erduld' ich gern,
kann ich nur meine Lieben retten.
