Get Behind the Man Behind the Gun!
Language: English
If the Kaiser Bill and Us have to have an awful fuss, And our Uncle Sam proclaims the boys must sail, Tighten up your belt and run, Grab your musket sword and gun, Shouting the Battle Cry of Freedom. Refrain When your Uncle Sammy says, "Now stop right here! you have gone far enough, Willie dear!" Where the old Red, White and Blue is flying Every shot and shell will tell our Boys are crying, "O say can't you see Uncle Sam depends on every loyal Son If you can't go and fight for the Flag you love-- You can Get Behind the Man Behind the Gun! If war-ridden Germany wants an armed neutrality And the Kaiser thinks he owns the sea and air, Then our Boys in Blue must go, Fighting manfully, the foe, Shouting the Battle Cry of Freedom. Refrain
