by Édouard de Linge ( flourished 1850-1876 )

Chanson du Matin
Language: French (Français)
Là-bas l'horizon se colore ;
L'oiseau gazouille :—c'est le jour !
Tu me souris, ma jeune aurore ;
Mon âme chante :—c'est l'amour !

L'aube pleure ; la fleur s'éveille,
Embrassons-nous, ma chaste fleur !
A la rose vole l'abeille ;
A tes lèvres vole mon cœur.

Deux tourterelles ont ensemble
Dans le chêne caché leur nid.
Qu'un même asile nous rassemble.
Comme un même espoir nous unit.

L'hiver fera fuir la palombe ;
Le ramier comme elle fuira.
Toi, si tu pars, ô ma colombe,
Ton vol partout me guidera.

Un jour, au bonheur sans mélange
Si Dieu te convie avant moi,
Parmi tes sœurs garde, mon ange,
Là-haut ma place auprès de toi.
