Beim Scheiden

Wehmuth weckt der fernen Wolkenwand'rer Gruss, 
Dass der schöne Sommer von uns scheiden muss. 
Doch von neuem selig wird die Brust bewegt, 
Wenn sich Frühlingsahnung durch die Schöpfung regt. 

Schmerzlich an den Abschied mahnt des Hornes Klang, 
Trennt den Bund der Freunde des Geschickes Zwang. 
Doch im Festesglanze uns der Tag erscheint, 
Der die treuen Herzen wieder neu vereint. 

Nie wär' ohne Trennung Wiedersehn erdacht, 
Ohne Winter nimmer Frühlings Hauch erwacht. 
Denk nur an den Maien, wenn die Stürme wehn, 
Und wenn Freunde scheiden, denk ans Wiedersehn.
