by Hermann Grieben (1822 - 1890)

Zu Bacharach am Rhein
Language: German (Deutsch)
Nun geht die Fahrt nach Bacharach,
Nach Bacharach am Rhein,
Da weiß ich unterm Rebendach
Ein stilles, trautes Trinkgemach,
Da schenkt man guten Wein.

Vor Zeiten stand ein Weinaltar
Zu Bacharach am Rhein,
Dem Bacchus brachte da die Schar
Der Zecher Gruß und Opfer dar
In bestem Edelwein.

Nach "Bacchiara" nennt denn auch
Sich Bacharach am Rhein,
Da hegt man noch den alten Brauch
Und winkt mit grünem Kranz und Strauch
Den Gast zu gutem Wein.

Ruine Stahleck schaut herab
Auf Bacharach am Rhein,
Die alten Ritter deckt das Grab,
Doch ewig grünt der Thyrsusstab
Im hellen Sonnenschein.
