by Leopold Friedrich Günther von Göckingk (1748 - 1828)

Die Liebe, die so manches mich
Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Liebe, die so manches mich
Gelehrt, lehrt andre wieder.
Zu ganzen Stunden setz' ich mich
An Papchens Käfig nieder,
Und ruf' ihm zu, als säh ich Land:
Amarant!

"Was lehrst du doch den Vogel da
Ein Wort, das nicht's bedeutet?"
O wohl bedeutet's was, Mama!
Von allen Blumen streitet
Die um den Preis zuerst, genannt
Amarant.

Zwei Sylben hat er erst gewagt,
So sehr ich ihn auch übe,
Doch da mein Vetter Fritz mir sagt:
Das Ama heiße: Liebe!
So hat der Vogel wohl Verstand,
Amarant?
