Canta uno augello in voce sì suave,
Ove Meandro il vado obliquo agira,
Che la sua morte prende con dilletto.
Lassar le usate ripe non gli è grave;
Ma con dolce armonia l'anima spira,
Nè voce cangia alfin, nè muta aspetto.
L'unda del fiume il novo canto ammira,
E lui, fra l'erbe fresche a la rivera,
Perchè nel suo zoir doglia non spera,
Segue cantando ove natura il tira.
Così me tragge questa bella fiera
A voluntaria morte e dolce tanto,
Che per lei moro, e, pur morendo, canto.
