by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben (1798 - 1874)

Die Wasserlilie einsam träumet
Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Wasserlilie einsam träumet
Tief unten in dem grünen See,
Sie träumet manchen Tag von Liebe,
Ihr ist so wohl, ihr ist so weh.

Und endlich treibt sie heiß Verlangen
Empor aus ihrer kühlen Nacht,
Da schwebt sie auf den stillen Wellen
Und blühet an der Sonne Pracht.

So dringt tief aus des Herzens Grunde
Mein Sehnen an des Tages Blick,
Es blühet auf um nur zu blühen
Und theilt der Lilie Geschick.
