Heiliger Hain

In Andachtsschweigen schreiten wir zum Haine,
In dessen Tiefe hehre der Tempel ruht.
Nun wollen wir in seligem Vereine 
Entzünden stille Dankesopferglut.  

Des Feldes Früchte auf den Herdstein leget, 
Daß stumm des greisen Priesters Hand sie weihe. 
Die dunklen Zweige, die der Wind beweget, 
Durchströmt das Licht der hohen Himmelsbläue. 

Laßt hier uns im Gebet das Feuer wahren, 
Deß Düfte nach dem fernen Teiche fliehn, 
Wo waldumnachtet, ernst, in stolzen Scharen,   
Die weißen Schwäne sanfte Kreise ziehn.
