Das Herz
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  DUT
Es sehnt sich das Herz
Nach Lust und Schmerz,
Und nimmer kann es ruhig bleiben,
Muß unstät auf den Wogen treiben.

Es trotzet und wagt,
Es zittert und zagt,
Will oft herab den Himmel ziehen,
Oft schüchtern in die Erde fliehen.

Um schnöden Gewinn
Gibt oft es sich hin,
Will oft ein Höheres erringen,
Und sich dafür zum Opfer bringen.

Es zürnt und vergibt,
Es glaubet und liebt,
Und seinem Sehnen, seinem Hoffen,
[Sind]1 stets die Himmelspforten offen.

Heut glühend und roth
Und morgen todt!
In Asche ist es still versunken,
Doch glimmt noch drinn ein Götterfunken.
