Nu dala från träden de snövita blad, 
som vaggat sig trötta i vinden. 
Äppelblom, körsbärsblom, se, nymånan stiger!

Se gossen och flickan, som nalkas så tyst 
i skuggorna borta vid spången, måne ny, måneskär! 
Tre gånger hon niger.

Som klängrosens hänge så frisk hennes kind. 
Men tafatt, med mössan i näven, måne ny, måne kär, 
står pojken och tiger.

Och natten förrinner och allting blir 
tyst och bort dra de älskande paren. 
Måne ny, måne tunn från himmelen bliger.
