Scheurlucht

't Is regenlaf. Het log geluchte staakt
'Zijn slentrend traag en onbestemd gekuier,
En sloft en sleurt, al lager en al luier,
Zijn rouwsleep die den dooden heuvel raakt.

Het zijgt en zakt, totdat een zware bui er
Zich lomp uit lost, er scheur op scheur in maakt,
En weggeslingerd als een sleetsche sluier
Met honderd tippen in de boomen haakt.

Zie! Stuk voor stuk wordt nu de lucht doorreten!
De spleten splitsen zich in nieuwe spleten,
Die zelf hun scheuring dragen in hun schoot.

Uit duizend wolken, die zich wild verwarden,
Dreigt naar en na de duisterende dood,
En de aarde duikt zich in des hemels flarden.
