by Heinrich Franz Gaudenz von Rustige (1810 - 1900)

Der Thürmer
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich steh' auf meinem Thurme
Und halte strenge Wacht,
Drei Glocken hab' ich zu läuten,
Drei Glocken, Tag und Nacht.

Die erste ertönt so helle
Mit feierlichem Klang,
Und rufet die Gemeinde
Zu Gottes Lobgesang.

Die zweite mit raschen Schlägen
Das schlafende Volk erschreckt,
Wenn der Flammen gier'ge Zunge
Am rauchenden Giebel leckt.

Die dritte dumpf erdröhnet,
Gar schauerlich und schwer:
Dem ihr Geläut ertönet,
Der hört es nimmermehr.

Doch als des Sieges Feuer
Einst von den Bergen geflammt,
Da donnerten im Sturme
Die Glocken allesammt.
