A Garden of Love
Language: English
A flower in a garden of sorrow and shade Was my heart, till you found it there, And took it, for ever a prisoner made, To your bosom to keep, and wear. And the lonely night of that garden sad Woke to days of delight with you; Your pitying eyes were the sunbeams glad, And your love was the morning dew. A flower in a garden of roses and rest Is my heart, till this life be o'er, Safe gathered at last to your sheltering breast, In sunshine for evermore. And the flower that withered in sunless shade Shall be blest all the flowers above, With blossom eternal that ne'er can fade In the light of your endless love.
