Heimweh

In ferne Länder möcht ich zieh'n,
wie Rehe in die Wälder flieh'n,
Delphinen gleich durch Meere schwimmen,
wie Gemsen steilen Fels erklimmen,
gleich Stürmen durch die Lüfte weh'n,
wie Aare kreisen in die Höhn,
und suchen was ich nirgends fand:
ein Heimathland, ein Heimathland!

Ein Land wo treue Liebe wohnt,
wo Freundschaft edle Seelen lohnt,
wo nicht Verrath und Tücke lauschet,
vertrauend Herz um Herz sich tauschet,
wo frei von Sorgen und von Müh'n,
des Hochgenusses Blumen blüh'n,
dort fänd ich was ich nirgends fand:
ein Heimathland, ein Heimathland
