Brót so stillan bylgja blá
Language: Faroese
Brót so stillan bylgja blá,
syng mær allar tínar sangir,
syng so allir mínir streingir
stilla seg og lyða á.
Hjarta mítt er sjúkt av iva,
og eg troyttist av at liva.
Syng mær mína hugsótt frá!

Kvøð nu tjaldur, steini á,
kvæði títt kann hugan frøa.
Djarvt sum tú kann eingin kvøða.
Stilla teg, mín sjúka trá!
Lýð á alt, og troyst tú finnur;
pina enn tey ljósu minni,
eydnu tína skiltu tú.

Snípa, lát í tíni vrá!
Sig mær, hví tær vónir bresfa,
sig mær, hví at alt tað besta,
leggst so brátt á deyðastrá?
Sig mær, hví at gleðin svinnur,
hví tey skýggj, ein føgur finnur,
dáttlig gerast tung og grá?
